Leading broker CityIndex has launched its proprietary trading iPhone app, allowing you to make trading decisions on the move, and to branch out from your computer desk to make trading more accessible.

Known as ‘City Trading’, the app is the first of its kind that provides a truly mobile trading platform, so you can trade CFDs and spread betting throughout the day, whether you’re on the move, out to lunch or lapping up the sunshine on a beach somewhere – simply fire up the app on your iPhone or iPod Touch and get instantly trading in real time with your CityIndex account.

This effectively means there’s no need to be stuck in front of a computer monitor all day to keep tabs on your positions, and makes trading fully mobile.

The interface is smooth and intuitive, and by all accounts the app seems to be a credible product that could be of real benefit to the more footloose traders among us.

It’s free to download through the iTunes store, and naturally syncs with your CityIndex account, providing a range of trading commands, reports and data, all with nifty graphics and a comfortable navigation sequence.

As one of the largest players in the online spread betting market, it’s hardly surprising this innovation is coming from CityIndex. What remains to be seen is whether traders will respond positively to the trading app, and whether even a mobile trading platform as good as this one can ever be a practical, feasible alternative to the web-based platforms we’re used to.
